Seaside State Beach

- Directions:
- This beach is the Seaside portion of the Monterey State Beach, called Seaside State beach. This is an easy beach to get to and monitor in Seaside. From Highway 1 either north or southbound, take the Canyon Del Rey/218 turnoff and drive towards the beach. The road ends in a parking lot to the right of the Monterey Beach Hotel. If the lot is full, drive past the hotel, and park in the lot at the end of the road.

- There are portable toilets in the parking lot close to the hotel.
- Site description:
- This is a popular beach in Seaside; however, during the week the beach can be deserted. To get to the monitoring site, walk north along the beach. The transect tape extends north from the 0m mark.
- Permit and visitor information:
- No permit is necessary for monitoring; however collecting of any sort is illegal without a scientific collecting permit or fishing license. Notify the state beach rangers, (831) 649-2836, of your monitoring plans prior to visiting the site.
