Directions:
This beach is the Seaside portion of the Monterey State Beach, called Seaside State beach. This is an easy beach to get to and monitor in Seaside. From Highway 1 either north or southbound, take the Canyon Del Rey/218 turnoff and drive towards the beach. The road ends in a parking lot to the right of the Monterey Beach Hotel. If the lot is full, drive past the hotel, and park in the lot at the end of the road.
Restrooms:
There are portable toilets in the parking lot close to the hotel.
Site description:
This is a popular beach in Seaside; however, during the week the beach can be deserted. To get to the monitoring site, walk north along the beach. The transect tape extends north from the 0m mark.
Permit and visitor information:
No permit is necessary for monitoring; however collecting of any sort is illegal without a scientific collecting permit or fishing license. Notify the state beach rangers, (831) 649-2836, of your monitoring plans prior to visiting the site.
