Directions:
This beach is part of the Monterey State Beach and is located in Monterey, CA. From Highway 1 either north or southbound, take the Casa Verde turnoff and head towards the beach, right if southbound and left if northbound. Take Casa Verde all the way across Del Monte and up the hill where the street turns into Surf Way and then Tide Avenue. One side of the street has houses and the other is the beach. Park anywhere along here. There is a small parking lot at the end of Tide Ave as well.
Restrooms:
There are no bathrooms at this beach. The closest public bathrooms are either in Monterey at Del Monte Beach or at Seaside State Beach.
Site description:
To get to the monitoring site, walk west towards Monterey along the beach to the site. Tide Avenue-North and Tide Avenue-South sites use the same center point (GPS coordinate). From this point, Tide Avenue-North site runs north towards Seaside and Tide Avenue-South runs south towards Monterey. This is a popular neighborhood beach in Monterey with lots of beach goers and dog walkers. During the week and during school hours, the beach can be deserted so it can be a great beach for monitoring with easy access.
Permit and visitor information:
No permit is necessary for monitoring; however collecting of any sort is illegal without a scientific collecting permit or fishing license.
