Baker Beach

- Baker Beach is located just west of the Golden Gate Bridge in the Presidio of San Francisco. Driving north on Park Presidio Blvd, turn west on Anza St. and right at 14th Ave. Left at Geary Blvd. and right at 25th Ave. Turn right at El Camino Del Mar. Continue on Lincoln Blvd to sign that marks the entrance to Baker Beach. Park in the southern most parking lot.

- Bathrooms are located in the northern parking area.
- Site description:
- Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. The beach can have large waves, undertow and rip currents. The site is located at the end of the trail from the parking lot. Fisherman frequent this beach and may collect mole crabs for bait.
- Permit and visitor information:
- Site is located within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It can be very crowded on a sunny day. No permit is required for monitoring; however, if you plan to collect crabs for parasite analysis, a fishing license or scientific collecting permit is needed.
