Directions:
Located in San Mateo County, north of Half Moon Bay along Highway 1. The beach is just south of the Pillar Point breakwater and harbor. Drop students off in the Pillar Point RV park parking lot to unload and gather in a safe area away from traffic; however, do not park in the RV lot. Park along Hwy One. From the RV lot, walk south along the sidewalk next to Highway 1 and walk down to the beach at the access point near the stop light.
Restrooms:
There are no bathrooms at this site. Closest restrooms are located at Pillar Point Harbor.
Site description:
The site is located just south of the path down to the beach.
Permit and visitor information:
This is a calm, protected beach with little wave action. No permit is required for monitoring; however, if you plan to collect crabs for parasite analysis, a fishing license or scientific collecting permit is needed.
